Hessing is a company specializing in processing ultra-fresh vegetables into salads and ready-to-eat products, operating a modern facility in Greenport Venlo, the Netherlands. With thousands of products produced daily, the demand for storing and distributing materials such as trays, labels, packaging, gloves, and more is very high (nearly 2,000 SKUs). Manual movement between storage and production areas was time-consuming and inefficient.

07 Kardex Shuttle systems have been installed, with each Vertical Lift Module dedicated to a specific application.
04 Kardex Shuttles are used for storing packaging materials, 02 Kardex Shuttles for fresh fruit and vegetable samples, and 01 Kardex Shuttle for the technical department to store tools and spare parts.
– This installation contributes significantly to Hessing’s quality standards.

The Kardex Shuttle intelligent storage system supplies dedicated packaging material kits for medium-care and high-care areas, preventing cross-contamination. Inside the Kardex Shuttles, overpressure technology ensures that contaminated air does not enter high-care zones. Use By Date samples are stored at constant temperatures of 0–4°C or 4–7°C.

Product traceability is critical to quality assurance. By integrating Kardex Shuttles with existing ERP and MES systems, materials can be registered per production order. This provides full visibility into which materials are used for which orders and enables complete traceability throughout the factory.
